FAQ
Metadata sent to Foxglove
Self-hosted primary sites allow you to leverage Foxglove's hosted data search & visualization, while maintaining complete control over your data. Message contents (including sensor data such as images) never leave your network.
As recordings (i.e. .mcap
or .bag
files) are indexed, the following metadata is sent to Foxglove cloud:
- Input file path as uploaded to the inbox bucket
- A hash of the input file's contents
- Input file size
- Device name
- Creation time
- Time of earliest message
- Time of latest message
- For each Channel in the recording:
- Topic name
- Schema name
- Schema encoding
- Schema content
- Message encoding
- For each Attachment in the recording:
- Log time
- Creation time
- Name
- Media type
- CRC
- Size
- Content hash
- For each Metadata record in the recording:
- Name
- Full content of all keys and values
